Mission Statement

The Planning Commission shall serve as a trustworthy steward of community resources by performing its duties in a manner to assure the City’s General Plan is consistently applied and that thought and consideration is given to the input and perspectives of all parties.
The Planning Commission prepares and recommends for adoption by the City Council a comprehensive, long-term general plan. The Planning Commission also makes recommendations to City Council on General Plan amendments, rezones, and adoption of neighborhood and specific plans; considers environmental impact reports and negative declarations; reviews special studies and reports; and approves tentative subdivision maps, planned development permit applications, use permits, and other land use entitlements.
 
The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 421 Main Street, Chico.

Agendas are posted to the web the previous Friday, six days before each meeting. Special meetings (such as workshops and site visits) can occur on an as-needed basis. Agendas for these special meetings will be posted to the web a minimum of 72 hours prior to each meeting.
