Note: The difference between a burglary and a theft is that in a burglary the suspect must break into a secured area or vehicle and/or have the intent to steal. Theft (such as stealing an unlocked bicycle) can be categorized as either petty (the value of the stolen item(s) is under $950.00) or grand (value is greater than $950.00).
