Planning Services

The Planning Services Department is charged with long-term planning and current planning functions. Long-term planning includes such activities as creation, implementation and maintenance of the General Plan and related policy implementation. Current planning functions deal with land use, development and growth. Planning Services is also responsible for gathering and disseminating planning information to the public, other City departments, the Planning Commission and the City Council.

Final Public Facilities Assessment

August 26, 2010: In support of the 2030 General Plan Update, the Public Facilities Assessment (PFA) was released for review on July 30, 2010. A public meeting held on August 21, 2010 provided an opportunity for publc comment as well as feedback from both the City Council and Planning Commission. The final document has taken this feedback into consideration. The purpose of the PFA is to describe and assess the feasibility of financing the capital facilities and improvements needed to support build-out of the 2030 General Plan Land Use Diagram. Revised Landscaping Requirements In Effect Due to Adoption of AB 1881

As required by Assembly Bill 1881, landscaping plans submitted for plan check after January 1, 2010 will need to comply with the provisions of the revised state Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO). The DESIGN GUIDELINES MANUAL is available online! The City of Chico Design Guidelines Manual, adopted by City Council in December 2009, consolidates and adapts existing design policy and guidelines into a single, user-friendly document for use by City officials, staff, and the general public.
