ILLEGAL SIGNS CAUSING PROBLEMS CITY TO ENFORCE POSTING LAW
The City of Chico is experiencing a problem with signs advertising yard and garage sales, real estate for sale/lease signs, and other advertising signs being illegally displayed. It is illegal to post any type of sign or flyer on any City facility, including buildings, street light poles, or traffic signal control poles. It also is illegal to affix the signs to any street tree or public utility pole, or in the ground in the city right of way.
Not only are the advertisements unsightly, but it also takes valuable personnel time for City employees to remove the signs. Removal of illegal signage takes place immediately upon sighting.
In an effort to stop the practice of illegal posting of signs, the City will enforce its sign and posting ordinance and persons posting signs illegally will be subject to citation.
