Bidwell Park & Chico Greenways Volunteer Calendar

The Volunteer Program welcomes all members of the public and is run on a drop-in basis! Project tools, instruction and water provided onsite—please bring your own water container if possible! Please dress for the weather (in layers) and wear closed-toed shoes. Volunteers under 18 need to have a parent/guardian release form signed prior to work. Download: Declaration of Assumption and Release of liability.

February 2 -- (1 - 4 pm) Volunteer Thursdays in the Park - Sycamore Restoration site at One Mile Recreation Area.  Volunteers will remove invasive weeds from the restoration site and help transplant native plants. Meet at the north end of Caper Acres -- walk past the Caper Acres entrance gate toward the paved path. Call 624-1617 for Thursday work session information.

February 3 -- (1 - 4 pm) Volunteer Fridays in the Park --  Entrance Gate to Bidwell Park – Volunteers will weed flower bed area and remove non-native ornamental bushes; Meet at the intersection of 4th and Pine Streets.  Call 624-3982 for worksite information.

Saturday worksession will start at 10 am instead of 11 am

February 4 – (10 am –1 pm) Volunteer Saturdays in the Park -- Five Mile Recreation Area Volunteers will remove invasive plants, including privets, blackberry, and ivy.  Meet at the Five Mile parking lot on the south side of Big Chico Creek (take Centennial Avenue east across Manzanita Avenue to the parking lot).  If you arrive late, call 624-3982.

March 8 -- (1 – 4 pm) Volunteer Thursdays in the Park – Bidwell Park Golf Course – Volunteers will remove invasive Japanese privets.  Meet in the parking lot at Golf Course in Middle Bidwell Park.  Please carpool if possible; Take Wildwood Road to Upper Park Road and turn right at the Golf Course road (just opposite the Chico Community Observatory/parking lot C).  For more information, call 624-1617.

March 30 – (1 – 4 pm) Volunteer Fridays in the Park –-  Lost Park Clean Up Volunteers will remove litter and weeds from this popular downtown park and work on the north side as well.  Volunteers will meet in the City’s public parking lot #5 on East 1st Street behind Solutions Cubed. Call 624-3982 on the work day for directions.
