HOW TO GET STARTED:

  1. Have a group of 10 or more? Please contact Shane Romain, Park Services Coordinator prior to the workday at (530) 896-7831 email:parkinfo@chicoca.gov
  2. Volunteers under 18 need to have a parent/guardian release form signed prior to work. Download: Volunteer Application
  3. Dress in layers for the weather and wear Closed-toed shoes; bring your own water bottle and work gloves if you have them.

Friday, August 10th (7 to 9 am) Verbena Fields Starthistle Removal Pull out yellow starthistle for an hour or two from this city-owned greenway (East 1st Ave at Verbena) next to Lindo Channel. We've made good progress at the site already and every additional volunteer will result in several thousand fewer YST next year. Come and leave anytime. For more information, call Susan at (530) 321-3406.

Saturday, August 11th (9 am-Noon) Water Quality Monitoring in Big Chico Creek. Join The Stream Team citizen scientists in conducting water quality assessments to track the health of Big Chico Creek. Meet at Five Mile Picnic Area Parking Lot (Centennial Way) at 9AM. Free, and training is provided. Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Saturday, September 15th (9 am- 12:30 pm) 31st Annual Bidwell Park and Creeks Cleanup

Each year, the Chico community teams up to pull TONS of trash and recyclables out of our creeks and beloved park.
Please pre-register at http://www.becnet.org/bidwell-park-clean-up or on the day of the event at either check in spot.
Volunteers will check in at two locations:
- Hooker Oak Recreation Area (off Vallombrosa) or
- 10th & Salem, at the Annie K Bidwell Parlor, 965 Salem St 
All Volunteers must sign a waiver and volunteers under the age of 18 are required to have a parent or guardian's signature. 
Those who pre-register will have access to early check in at 8:30 AM and express lines.
After the Cleanup: From 1 PM to 3 PM All volunteers are invited to a free BBQ lunch at Sierra Nevada Brewery's Hop Field with burgers provided by Madison Bear Garden. Join us for live music, games, prizes, and more! Vegetarian and vegan options available. YOU WILL GET YOUR ENTRY TICKET WHEN YOU CHECK IN FOR THE CLEANUP
Pre-registered volunteers and early birds will get a free t-shirt (while supplies last). Specify your shirt size on registration.
