Fire Station 6 is temporarily located in a leased facility. Station 6 is the only public safety facility located west of the Union Pacific railroad main line.
OES Engine 297 is assigned to Chico through the Governors Office of Emergency Services and may be sent to fire or rescue emergencies throughout the State. It is equipped to handle light structural collapse emergencies. Engine 297 serves as the reserve for Station 6.
Engine 6 is a 2002 Hi-Tech Type 1 fier engine and is the primary response vehicle for Staion 6.
Utility 6 is a 2006 4x4 three-quarter ton pickup designed to pull the Fire Scene Investigation trailer.
A new station is being designed for construction on this city owned site at West 8th Avenue and Highway 32, adjacent to Oak Way Park and Emma Wilson School. Completion is planned for the near future.
