Public Education Programs
The Special Operations Section (S.O.S.)is involved in a variety of public education efforts, including Retail Theft Awareness, Robbery Prevention, Personal and Senior Safety, Child Safety and other crime prevention topics. S.O.S. can also tailor education classes to specific needs of your business or community group.
In addition to presentations, the unit is active with the Ident-A-Child Program, Panhandler Prevention Program, Motel Watch, Drug-Free Zones, Leadership Chico, and others. The unit also develops and maintains liaisons with the California State University, Chico and the business community. The unit has written materials on topics such as how to plan a party, date rape, and laws regarding alcohol and substance abuse. The unit reviews Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) applications and will help licensees with requirements by the state and help deal with problems associated with their business. These programs and services are offered to you at no cost.
